Written by: Bill Levis, Manager, Fundraising Effectiveness Project; Ben Miller, DonorTrends; and Cathlene Williams, Association of Fundraising Professionals

Contributions by: Caity Craver, DonorTrends, and Jim Greenfield, ACFRE.

The 2019 Fundraising Effectiveness Project report summarizes data provided by four donor software firms: Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, NeonOne, and Clearview. These four firms provided anonymized gift transactions for all of the non-profits using their software. Organizations with fewer than 25 donors and those with no donors in 2017 or 2018 were removed from the data set. The resultant data set contained 10,640 non-profit organizations with data spanning back to 2006.

These 10,640 organizations raised $9.126 billion dollars in 2018 compared to $8.760 billion dollars in 2017 for an overall rate of growth in giving of 4.2% ($366 million).”
