Craig Fisher FCA  | Giving Architects Advisory Board Member

Craig Fisher is a board director, governance consultant, and independent advisor with specialist expertise in governance, strategy, audit, assurance and financial consulting. 

He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant formerly with 30 years public practice experience, 23 of those being an audit partner for a wide variety of entities in the public, private, and not-for-profit / charitable sectors.  He is an experienced Chairman and chaired the accounting firms he was a part of for his last 20 years in public practice accounting.  

Craig is a recognised specialist in not-for-profit and charitable issues and occasional presenter and author.   He has a long history in audit, assurance and ethical standard setting both in New Zealand and representing New Zealand internationally.  Craig has a strong interest in purpose led organisations, good governance, clarity of focus, and transparency of reporting, especially service performance reporting and other forms of impact reporting.

Erica Miles  | Giving Architects Advisory Board Member

Erica is an experienced Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) management consultant.  Her background includes responsible investment and sustainable finance policy development, consulting, and program delivery for some of the largest and most highly respected organisations in Aotearoa New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Europe. 

Erica was co-secretariat and co-author of the Sustainable Finance Roadmap for Aotearoa New Zealand and chaired the industry-led committee that developed Aotearoa New Zealand’s inaugural Stewardship Code for investors.  Erica now works with industry bodies to deliver leading-edge sustainable finance training. 

Erica specialises in practically integrating environmental and social factors into investments, and works with financial institutions and corporates across all elements of the investment value chain including:  Responsible investment and sustainable finance frameworks, sustainable finance policy and strategy development, ESG due diligence (pre- and post- acquisition), ESG risk integration, integrated management systems, audit & assurance frameworks, impact measurement, reporting and disclosure, and stakeholder engagement and materiality. 

Erica believes investments should not only drive positive financial outcomes but also environmental and social outcomes.  She also believes investments should create and maintain long-term sustainable value. 

Joy Marslin  |  Giving Architects Advisory Board Member

Joy holds governance positions across a number of companies after more than 25 years in leadership roles within the financial services sector, leading business units and providing strong investment governance.   She recognises financial viability and rewarding investment is fundamental to all business, but believes the real success of any entity should be measured by the positive impact it makes on society and/or the environment.  

Currently Joy is an independent director of Simplicity NZ Ltd (Chair), Strategi Group, Financial Services Complaints Ltd (Financial Ombudsman), NZ Shareholders Association, as well as being an impact consultant at New Ground Capital and Director of Impact Enterprise fund.  In addition to her directorships Joy is on the Nominating Committee of Guardian of the NZ Superannuation Fund and Metis Investment Committee.   Previously she was Chair of the Auckland Community Foundation and Trustee of Assistance Dogs NZ. 

Joy believes that as we face into the growing number of global challenges, it is increasingly important we challenge ourselves and be open to change to support the aspirations of current and future generations.

Paul Brown   | Giving Architects Advisory Board Member    

Paul is currently the Managing Director for BoardWorks and serves as an advisor and evaluator of boards for Crown entities, iwi, private corporations, and leading purpose-driven organisations. His extensive career blends commercial and for-purpose experience, having worked in the automotive, financial services, and international development sectors. Paul has held key leadership positions, including serving as CEO for over 16 years of an international development agency. Additionally, he has held senior roles within multinational organisations and governance positions, including chairing a peak body.

A strong advocate for lifelong learning, Paul has participated in advanced programmes at IMD Business School, the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and Duke University. His academic achievements include an MBA, a BE (Civil), membership in the Institute of Directors (MInstD), and graduation from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

In late 2022, Paul led the establishment of Emergency Alliance, a collaboration of New Zealand’s leading humanitarian organisations working together to use a unified voice to fundraise for significant global emergencies. As the inaugural Executive Director of Emergency Alliance, Paul champions collaboration across the for-purpose sector.

Paul also serves as Chair of Independent Living, an Auckland-based organisation dedicated to improving daily life for individuals with disabilities and aged people. Additionally, he is the Executive Director of Stephenson & Turner, a nationwide group of architects and engineers, and contributes to several advisory boards.

Outside of his professional commitments, Paul is married to Angela and is the father of William and Michael. He finds joy in exploring New Zealand’s stunning wilderness and is on a mission to complete all of Aotearoa New Zealand’s Great Walks, having completed eight of the eleven.

 

Martin Enright   |  Giving Architects Advisory Board Member

Martin is a seasoned expert in revenue growth, business development, and capacity building for social impact, with over 20 years of commercial experience and a track record of closing transactions exceeding $12 billion. His core competencies include deal structuring, contracting, rights and content licensing, strategic planning, impact evaluation, governance, and new venture development. Martin’s diverse sector expertise spans Media & Entertainment, Technology & New Ventures, Social Impact, Commercial Law, Telecommunications, and Strategy, supported by robust operational, management, and governance experience.

He has held senior executive roles across blue-chip companies, professional service firms, startups, SMEs, and NGOs, operating in regions including New Zealand, Australia, Asia, India, the Pacific, the UK, and the US. Martin’s governance experience includes serving on the boards of more than 20 companies and NGOs across Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, he has contributed to academia by teaching, mentoring, and judging entrepreneurship and business studies at universities in Australia and New Zealand since 2000.

A strong advocate for innovation and growth, Martin has been involved in over 10 startups, helped launch more than 20 ventures, and provided advisory support to many others. His contributions have been recognised with a Churchill Fellowship awarded by the New Zealand Government for 2019/20. Passionate about fostering impactful partnerships, Martin is dedicated to empowering organisations to thrive in complex and dynamic environments.
